About
About GoChildmind
My name is Callum Fackrell. I am a registered childminder in the UK, inspected under the September 2025 EYFS framework. I received Strong and Expected judgements under the November 2025 Ofsted report card system.
I have seven years of childcare experience, six as a childcare assistant and just over one as a registered childminder in my own right alongside my partner Beth. I have a first-class degree in psychology with a specialism in child development. I did not go into childminding because of that degree. I went into childminding and found that the psychology explained everything I was seeing on the floor.
I started GoChildmind because when I was going through my own registration, every resource I could find was either outdated, forum-based, or written by an organisation with a financial interest in making independent registration look harder than it is. None of it reflected the process I was actually navigating. The EYFS had changed. The inspection system had changed. The people who had been through the new version were not writing about it yet.
So I started writing about it.
Who GoChildmind is for
GoChildmind is for three kinds of people.
Prospective childminders who want a clear, honest picture of what registration actually involves before they commit time and money to finding out.
Registered childminders who want to stay current with the EYFS, prepare properly for inspection, and run a practice they genuinely understand rather than just follow.
Parents of under-fives who want to know what distinguishes a good childminder from a compliant one, and how to make a confident decision for their child.
Everything here is written against the current statutory frameworks. When things change, this changes with them.
